We are the ones who create stunning contemporary, timeless or rustic lighting installations, furniture and decor to hire for your wedding or event throughout Yorkshire, Lancashire and the North of England. (We also love a road trip, so don't hesitate to ask!).
Specialising in traditional and modern styling, we create solutions that are as unique as you are. From rustic barns, country house and marquees to DIY weddings and hotel venues - we have years of experience working with them all.
Whatever your event - be it a birthday, anniversary, Christmas party or television and corporate work, we have something to suit every occasion.
We can offer light up letters (1.8m tall no less, and painted for every hire!!), light up numbers, fairy lights, festoon and Edison bulbs for starters. Or how about even a neon sign? You won’t find ours anywhere else!
Our bespoke furniture range and stylish decor/prop hire items include a range of tables, chairs, top table features, dry hire bar and multiple styles of seating options. We are sure we can add the WOW factor to your wedding day, birthday party or event and create a real talking point!

We hired Typical Type for the lighting and room dressing of our 2022 wedding which had been postponed 3 times due to... COVID.The day of your wedding you really don't want to be stressing about where lights, candles, or anything else should be placed and we were so pleased and thankful that they turned up, got to work, and left again without saying more than 'hi'!The rooms were beautifully dressed, with copper string lights and big star lights hung and placed visibly but not intrusively, and these little touches just made everything feel special.Collecting the materials was also seamless, with the staff coming early the following day.They turned up when they said they would, dressed the room fantastically, and removed everything the following day - what more could you want.Barry was brilliant in the run up to the event, responding to emails promptly and making sure he knew everything he needed to about what we had in mind and the venue.We'd highly recommend them to anyone else.Thank you for helping to make our big day extra special!Photos copyright Neil Redfern 2022read more

Typical Type were amazing for our wedding from our first conversation to set up on the day and collection the following... day. We hired the large light up letters to spell our married surname as well as a large industrial style table with hanging lights to display our treat table at our evening reception. The hired products themselves were perfect and exactly what we wanted and we can’t fault Typical Type at all - they were great in ensuring the set up was seamless and exactly as we wanted and nothing was too much trouble. Kerri and Barry from Typical type are amazing at what they do. They made our venue look like an absolute fairytale.... They provided us with our Star lights, a beautiful eddison board for above our top table and decorated our outside area with a festoon around the lake and lights around the barn and tree. If you are wondering if you need Typical Type for your special event - the answer is yes you do! Their lighting and... seating transformed our wedding into such a magical and picturesque setting that I honestly gasped when I walked in and saw it displayed. It was the part all guests commented on at the wedding, it was hard not to when it looked like you were walking through a fairytale. My husband and I hired Typical Type for our wedding and we couldn't have been happier with the service Barry provided!!... The whole process was so smooth from start to finish and the results were simply incredible. If the photos in Typical Type's own albums don't sell you on how exquisite their lighting and other services are, the ones in this and other reviews will hopefully convince you!In the initial planning stages, Barry was a pleasure to communicate and plan with. He gave us really clear explanations of what Typical Type offer and was really flexible with what we wanted to hire - we adjusted our package a couple of times accordingly with our budget and it was no problem for him whatsoever, which we really appreciated. It was a smooth process and Barry was friendly and responsive the whole time.Barry arrived the day before to set up and we had a bit of an issue with where we could have our circular edison lights above the top table, due to constraints in the venue, but we chatted it through with Barry and quickly organised a new way to do it - it was no fuss adjusting our table plan to accommodate the absolutely gorgeous lighting. On the day, everything was simply stunning and I was genuinely filled with tears when I arrived and saw it all fully set up. From the lights above the top table, to the circular arch behind us during our ceremony, to the pond lights and pallet seating - it all elevated our day so much and I couldn't be more grateful.Thank you so much Barry for your incredible service and friendliness. Fantastic communication from the start, Barry was always so helpful and responsive. They supplied beautiful tables and... chairs for us and put up fairy lighting for our wedding reception in December 2021. On the day they turned up promptly and were so professional, efficient and friendly. We hired 4 sections of the edison canopy, 3 for our top table and 1 for our signing the register table. They were... perfect for our cosy Christmas theme and so many of our wedding guests commented that they'd never seen a top table like ours. We also hired a light waterfall to provide the backdrop for our band. The photos of people dancing with the lights behind them are amazing! Typical type aka Kerri and Barry supplied our wedding in October at east Riddlesden hall. Kerri and Barry had fantastic... communication from start to finish and offered their help and support if needed.The cost was very reasonable and Barry was kind enough to give us some discount as they were supplying a wedding the day before at the same venue. Thank you for this.We hired the red neon sign let’s be wild together this was a great backdrop for photos, the pallet seating was perfect for our evening guests and the lighting outside was just beautiful. We hired the heart festoon fence and twinkle lights for the top of the barn and in the large tree outside the barn. It all looked magical at night and we were lucky enough to have a warm October evening to enjoy the lights.I will definitely be using typical type again in the future and would strongly recommend them if your planning a wedding they are amazing.Thank you for making our day extra special.read more

We hired two sets of letters for a birthday party - and nothing was too much trouble for Barry at all. My partner had... contacted a few other similar sites locally and we heard back from none of them; whereas I had seen 'Typical Type' on a wedding website and so contacted them myself - even though they were slightly further away. I heard back from Barry straight-away and he was exceptional in his communication, delivery and professionalism throughout. Nothing was too much trouble and no distance too far. Therefore I would highly and wholeheartedly recommend 'Typical Type' - and thanks Barry for making a special night even more memorable.read more

Massive thanks to the Typical Type team for what looked to us like a seamless set up on Friday! We planned and DIY’ed... most elements of our day, and I’m confident we couldn’t have done that without Barry’s prompt responses to all our questions. His communication throughout our entire wedding planning process (including a postponement) has been on point. On the day the team turned up ahead of time, and already had all the tables set up before we arrived, which made for a really swift set up!The venue looked incredible and the table layout worked so well for mingling with our gorgeous guests! Came across Typical Type while looking for something to display in the Entrance of my workplace Keelham Farm Shop. From... the initial contact to the service they provided... it was fantastic.
